Dance FAQs
I am interested in taking dance lessons, where should I go?
Different styles of dance are more prevalent in certain areas than others, possibly making it hard to find a reputable dance studio for certain genres. I suggest that you start researching potential locations. You may find the Internet a good source of options; however, the daily paper should also have listings as well. Once you are able to get an idea of locations, schedule an appointment to go and visit the studio and instructor. This will enable you to get a feel for the dynamics of the studio and if it will be an appropriate fit for you.
What is appropriate dancewear?
This question is entirely based off of the type of dance in question. However, generally speaking, appropriate attire for any dance, is that which is comfortable and doesn’t restrict movement. Being able to move freely is one of the most important aspects of any dance. It is also necessary in most dances to have the appropriate footwear, but again this is dependent on the type of dance being referred to. I suggest if you are curious about a specific style of dance that you gain further knowledge through research.
My big toe is shorter than the toe next to it. I need Pointe shoes but find that they are not made for my odd toe length, any suggestions?
There are special shoes available for people with this issue, and potential venders can be researched online. I also suggest calling dance store locations and simply asking if they sell that type of shoe as you will be able to try it on before purchasing. Another suggestion is to have your shoes custom made. Although this may require more of a monetary investment, it will ensure that you feet will be as comfortable as they can be.
