Dance Shoes

Dance shoes are relative to the type of dance that is being participated in. Each style is different, putting a different amount of stress and strain on the body, especially the feet. While some genres may not require any sort of footwear, others are essential and could not be lived without.

Dance shoes are generally worn to protect the feet from discomfort, harm, or injury. In Pointe ballet, Pointe shoes are essential for the dance to be completed. They allow a dancer to elevate to the tips of their toes, which would otherwise not be possible. Jazz dance requires a lot of movement through jumps and turns, making jazz shoes a worthwhile investment to protect the feet.

Dance shoes are available in many different forms, even for specific genres. It is important to research a specific type of dance and their requirements before purchasing footwear, if this is a new venture. It is important to remember that while some dances may not require footwear, a dancer cannot dance if they have an injured foot due to lack of support.
